Hello World — Welcome to rooot.it
There are already a lot of route planners out there.
Some are polished.
Some are powerful.
Some are… frustrating.
So why build another one?
Because we wanted something different
rooot.it started with a simple problem:
We wanted to plan routes the way we actually ride them.
Not just from A to B — but:
- adding weird detours
- exploring unknown paths
- mixing gravel, road, and “this might be a bad idea”
- and sometimes just… seeing where it goes
Most tools don’t really support that kind of planning.
They optimize.
They simplify.
They assume.
We wanted control.
Built by someone who actually uses it
rooot.it is not a company project.
It’s not backed by a big team.
It’s built by a developer who:
- rides gravel and MTB
- gets lost on purpose
- and got tired of fighting with existing tools
So instead of complaining… we started building.
What rooot.it is (and will be)
Right now, rooot.it is becoming a route planner focused on:
- real exploration instead of strict routing
- full control over your path
- clear insights (surface types, elevation, details that matter)
- offline-ready thinking (because signal disappears when it gets interesting)
And this is just the beginning.
Planned:
- better route editing
- mobile companion
- offline maps
- syncing across devices
- and tools for multi-day adventures
No bullshit, no overengineering
We’re not trying to build the next unicorn.
We’re building something we actually want to use.
Simple as that.

- experiments
- and maybe a few failures
